2016-2017 influenza vaccination campaign has been kicked off. On the occasion, Professor Susanna Esposito, President WAidid, speaks about the importance of this vaccination, focusing on the categories which, according to the most recent recommendations, should receive the seasonal flue vaccine.
Among the categories identified is the one of pregnat women, to whom the vaccine can be benefiacial since they cannot take medication during pregnancy. But, as the ESCMID Study Group for Vaccines (EVASG) points out, the inactivated flu vaccine can also protect the babies from infection during the first few months of life. To learn more, read here.
