Professor Paola Marchisio (University of Milan, Italy) illustrates the fundamental role of nasopharynx in relation to middle ear and to the emergence of AOM.
In the last years we discovered more about the nasopharyngeal microbiota and we know that an imbalance in the microbiota can mean disease. For this reason, we have to try to mantain the balance of the nasopharynx microbiota. Data on AOM are still scarse but we know that increasing the number of good pathogens we can counterbalance the bad ones.
