Today is the 10th anniversary of the WHO "Clean Care is Safer Care" programme, whose objective is to underline the importance of hand hygiene for healthcare workers. 

SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands is WHO Call to action this year and Benedetta Allegranzi, Lead WHO Infections Control Programme "Clean Care is Safer Care", explains that hand hygiene is the single most effective measure to reduce transmission of healthcare associated infections, which are among the most frequent adverse events in healthcare delivery.
