Professor Miguel O'Ryan (Santiago, Chile) tackles the issue of enteroviruses. He starts with talking about rotavirus, rotavirus vaccine research and its successes; he then moves to the second enteric virus that causes gastroenteritis in children and adults, that is norovirus, for which vaccines are currently under developement.
Professor O'Ryan concludes by underlining that the prevention of these two pathogens, could reduce 50-60% of the moderate to severe acute diarrhea cases that affect children worldwide.
