WHO Guidelines on the management of latent tuberculosis infection
This week WAidid suggests to read the WHO Guidelines on the management of latent tuberculosis infection.
WHO recognizes the management of latent tuberculosis infection as an essential element in the implementation of the END-TB strategy and the TB elimination framework in low incidence countries.
SUMMARY:
In early 2015 WHO issued the ‘Guidelines on the management of latent tuberculosis infection’ which provides recommendations for a public health approach to implement evidence-based practices for testing and treating latent TB in low TB incidence countries. It also recently established a Global Task Force to get expert advice on how to scale-up detection and treatment of latent infection. The Task Force is composed of 31 members coming from over 25 different countries, selected on the basis of their technical skills and expertise in latent TB programmatic management, research and development.
